Page Builder Overview

  • Page Builder is a feature of Kentico that allows you to create and manage content directly on the UI of the page in the CMS.
  • Page Builder is easy to use and allows you to create new pages quickly without developer intervention.
  • Gives you more control of the content and layouof pages.
  • Some key features:
    • Allows you to add “sections” to a page to determine the layout. (e.g. one column, two columns, etc.)
    • Allows you to add as many widgets as you want to a new page. (Rise already created pre-built library of widgets for you to use)
    • Allows you to drag and drop widgets to re-order how they’re displayed on the page.
    • Immediately see what the page will look like once it’s published on the live site.
    • Edit content directly on the page.
  • Page Builder should be used on high-traffic pages, landing pages, or WYSIWYG-heavy pages that require you to tailor both content and design.

Page Builder: Sections

When using Page Builder, you can determine the layout for a page (one column, two columns, etc.) by adding "sections," which are components that define the layout of widget zones within editable areas. You should always add a "section" first before adding a widget.

Page Builder: Widgets

After you add a "section" to your page, you'll need to add widget(s) you want to use for that section. A widget is a component that has specific functionalities. The most commonly used widgets for the site are Image widget and Rich Text widget.
